Jubitz Corporation is a family owned and operated truck stop, fueling provider and hospitality company started by Monroe A. “Moe” Jubitz. After Moe graduated from Yale University in 1939, he declined inquiries from the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees and returned to Portland. He took a job with a local trucking company and saw an opportunity in truck leasing, prompting him to open his own business in 1952 as Fleet Leasing, Inc.
Moe discovered that business opportunities for providing professional drivers with services such as fuel, food and accommodations were outpacing his original truck leasing business, and Jubitz Truck Stop was born. Every member of the Jubitz family pulled a shift in the early years, with sons Al Jubitz and Fred Jubitz working the first 24-hour shift in 1960.
