In the same way that we manage business risks by planning for damage or loss, as soon as we reach adulthood, we should begin planning for health risks, including completing an advance healthcare directive. Join us for a presentation with Ames Simmons, a trans lawyer and law professor at Duke University, and Corey Kaster of Inbundance Wealth Management on ways that the LGBTQ+ community can plan for their end of life.
Ames Simmons will walk through a nuanced decision-making tool with guiding questions that any gender-diverse person can use to identify their values and goals concerning dementia, gender identity and expression and plug into an advance directive. These documents may help lessen fears that transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming people may have about dementia, loss of decision-making capacity, and discrimination in long-term care.
Corey Kaster will discuss business insurance, business succession planning, and financial planning.
Who should attend this class? LGBTQ+ community members and business owners or sole proprietors at all stages of operation who are considering end of life planning.
If you have specific questions or topics of inquiry you'd like to submit prior to the class please use this form!
