Breakfast Forum: Catalyst for Change: Portland Charter Reform

Description

Approved by 57 percent of voters in November 2022, Ballot Measure 26-228 includes ranked-choice voting, geographic districts, a bigger city council and new leadership roles. 

The City of Portland will host its first election using geographic districts and ranked-choice voting in November 2024. Along the way, key milestones will ensure the project is on track. 

A workplan was developed to guide the implementation of voter-approved changes to Portland's city government. The recently passed charter reform has reshaped the landscape of Portland's governance, and its impact on the upcoming elections is significant.
